Manolo is preparing the Thanksgiving menu. As usual, we will celebrate a week late. Trust me, the reasons for this aren't interesting. Few people know that Orson Welles had a favorite character on that cartoon show about G.I. Joe. That's one of the many things I learned when I spent a late afternoon with him in a hotel bar a few months before he passed on. I remember it vividly since the show was on the bar television. An odd choice for a Culver City watering hole. He comes to mind because there's a new TV movie out about baseball great Pete Rose and Pete Bogdanovich stars in it. The make-up is incredible. It doesn't even look like Bogdanovich at all. The character was Destro, Diary, in case you were curious.
